What is the pelvic floor?

The pelvic floor is a complex neuromuscular system.

From a wide lens, the pelvic floor sits three dimensionally within the pelvis. The muscles that make up the pelvic floor include the puborectalis, pubococcygeus, coccygeus, and iliococcygeus. But no muscle works in isolation! In coordination with the diaphragm, trunk, and hips, the pelvic floor assist with continence, excretion, sexual function, and pelvic stability.
