Welcoming Summer

Summer is coming and the partial lockdown orders are finally lifting.

For some of us, this means we are fully stoked and ready to play! For others, we are taking our time to redefine our boundaries when it comes to finding our way back into the outside world again.

Wherever you find yourself on this spectrum, know that what you are experiencing is absolutely valid.

As for me, I’m intentionally taking time to settle in and honoring the parts of me that need quiet time to recharge. In the last two years, I moved to a new country, took on a new language, started a master study program in said new language, began a new job, and moved to a new province... all while navigating a global pandemic. As I reflect on aaaaaaaall the changes I’ve experienced lately, I realize just how dynamic life has been. I can appreciate why stillness feels so balancing right now even though this is the time that things are opening back up. AND I welcome playing outside, enjoying long summer days with friends again.

What I’ve found helpful is the practice of deeply listening so that I can selectively choose to participate in the social events that are energizing, while carefully crafting time to sit still or simply enjoy a quiet walk in the woods.

Perhaps you feel me on this, and if so, know that you are not alone.

Ready to play outside with friends? Here are a couple community based events coming up this summer. I’ll be making some guest appearances teaching here and there and hopefully joining occasionally as a student as well (when it feels right).
